GUIDE TO WRITING SHOW MUSIC FOR BATTERY PERCUSSION

About this Series

I started writing marching battery percussion show music in 2009. At the time, I was a senior in a high school and we had a percussion teacher from a local college back out of writing our show music the week before our summer camps started, so I was thrown into the fire. Since then, I have written music for multiple different high school and college marching band programs and I have learned a lot of tricks, do's and don'ts, and other general marching percussion concepts that help marching battery ensembles sound their best with a minimal amount of work. This video series is my attempt to share my knowledge and techniques with those learning how to write show music for marching battery ensembles. I tried to make these videos with both percussionists and non-percussionists in mind, so there should be something for everyone!
